Cardboard Chairs
For the cardboard chairs project we were assigned to come up with a strong, sturdy design for a chair made with only cardboard. This means the only way to stick the cardboard together is with cardboard. We started this project by testing the weak points in different shapes to find which ones are strongest. We then came up with a design and made a prototype model out of manila folders. After making a successful design we started in the real one. Since we didn’t have much time to work on it we decided to make the model for a toddler. In the end the chair could hold a 50 lb. child. The chair came out well because it was strong, aesthetically pleasing, and we didn’t use much cardboard.

Reflection
The cardboard chairs project was fun to do since it incorporated structural and aesthetical design. I like the way we figured out to use triangles for strong supports by testing force on paper. I learned that when making a cardboard chair the way the grain of the cardboard goes would affect the way it bends. We should have started making the prototype earlier because we spend too much time brain storming and ended up doing our first design anyways. Overall all of the three projects went well and all worked out in the end.
